I stumbled across this place while researching a problem I'm having with a 262c skid. I was out pushing snow this evening and out of nowhere my heat stopped. The blower still works but there's nothing but cold air coming out of the vents. It is possible there could be a shut off valve that is not allowing flow through the heater core. Also check for a restricted cab air filter that would restrict airflow. If all of this checks out okay, Verify that the blower motor fan is coming on and functioning. On my CAT 289c, the heater doesn't seem to be working even after having the engine warm up for an hour. A/C works great, it blows nice cold air, but this heater does not seems to be working (blows outside temperature), does anyone know where to start?
Check if the heater valve is working, or at least that the shaft rotates and feels as though it's connected to something. If the shaft is broken inside the valve you will feel little or no resistance when you try to turn it.Customer: I own a Cat 272C skid steer. Went to push snow and the heater blows cold air only. Where do I start looking? There has to be a valve on a heater hose somewhere, but it is kind of hard to see.

Possible Cause 1. The blower motor is not working. Inspect the circuit breaker or the fuse panel in order to ensure that there is no open circuit. Visually inspect the wire harnesses in order to check for any broken wires or missing connectors. Use the electrical schematic for the respective machine to ensure proper connections.
I've hooked up an aftermarket heater in this 246 cat and can't figure out why I'm not getting heat. Hooked it up the same as a 236b machine.one line right out of the water pump and one into the radiator where the sight glass is.that machine worked great. I have an '08 262C Cat skid steer and the cab heater is blowing only cold air. I have replaced the thermostat and nothing. I filled the coolent levels. Any ideas what my problem could be? MY 257b goes thru lots of cab filters, not sure if the 277 is the same. Does it work on both Hi and Lo? I had to replace the fan on mine at about 1500 hours, one of the speeds quit working. Mine will cook you out of the cab within a half hour, but it stays in a heated shop. I believe it's just a flow problem, your hose by the termostat should be fine, but the other should go by the lower rad hose or in lower front half of the block. What I think it's doing is once the thermostat opens you loose flow, not for sure, hope that helps.
