I am installing all new bearings, races, axle sprockets, idler sprockets, and chains. I even had to go so far as having a new idler cluster shaft bushing made and weld it in. Out of the blue, my mustang 940 just lost total drive movement on the right side .

Out of the blue, my mustang 940 just lost total drive movement on the right side only. It was almost instant. I coulda swore I heard some minor mechanical/hydraulic type noise just minutes before, but it could have been anything. I checked the main links and mechanical connections and couldn't find any breakage or disconnects,etc.Hello, I am new to the forum and semi new to skid steer repair. I am an auto tech by trade. I was never sure of its service history so recently gave it a thorough service. I must have shocked it because not long after it threw a left hand drive chain.Bah!

I recently acquired a 940 in decent shape. It was operated while the cluster sprocket bearings were worn out, which destroyed the cluster sprocket shaft. I'm on the west coast, and these machines seem to be an east coast thing. No I haven't checked the chain boxes, but the oil tank is remaining 1/4 full. I do wonder if being the sump tank was nearly dry, the 7 micron charge filter might have plugged. I also noticed on the Hydro flow chart it shows something called "cold start relief @250psi", not sure what its purpose is but wonder if it could be stuck open.

Unable to get sproket off drive motor shaft. Have cotter key and nut off, also released chain tension. Hope someone knows how to remove this item. Need to have motor rebuilt, it leaks. I have a Mustang 960. Left drive seemed to seize up. Primary chain master link had come off so I replaced all 4 chains on both left and right, re-assembled and left side still not working. I think the drive motor is the issue. Guessing parts will be hard to get. It only has 2500 easy hours on it and I expect that if I keep up with maintenance it should give me 2500 more. As someone looking to add a skid steer on a modest budget to the farm, I've found several Mustang's in my price range but I'm leary based on lack of positive.
